Osteopathy is a manual therapy that encompasses the healing power of nature. Its philosophy states that the body is a vital, living machine, which already possesses everything it needs to self-heal. When the body is structurally sound, this ability is present and occurring without conscious thought. However, this self-healing ability is hindered when the body’s physical structure becomes impaired. The trained osteopath will use a variety of manual moves in order to adjust the body and restore its natural
self-healing abilities.
The osteopathy provided at Everwood Wellness is a classical form of osteopathy. This means it stays true to the founding principles of the profession as established by the founding father: Andrew Taylor Still. Classical osteopaths are thoroughly educated in anatomy, physiology, pathology and mechanics in order to treat a wide range of conditions from pain to organ dysfunction. We currently staff rehabilitative manual practitioners who are completing/or have completed their studies in Masters in Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences. Garnet Suidy

Manual Practitioner

Garnet Suidy is in his third year of studies at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in Hamilton Ontario where he is working towards his Masters in Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences. Osteopathy is a principles based philosophy rooted in an in depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology and mechanics. The natural abilities of the body to self-heal and self-regulate are optimized by removing structural disturbances allowing for better movement of joints and fluids. Garnet’s background in movement and therapy helps create unique treatments for each individual patient. “Unlocking the body’s incredible ability to heal has actually allowed me to help people. There is no universal technique that can “fix” any body. My goal as a practitioner is to facilitate changes in the structure and function of the body to create an optimal environment for the natural healing process to occur.” Garnet received the “Award of Merit” for his second year studies and will graduate in 2018.
